Windows XP Registry

Windows continually query information during its operation, so we set a record bad report errors and unexpected failures. This register replaces most. Ini files (but not all) that were used in Windows 3.x and MS-DOS, as well as AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS. In the log data is organized in a hierarchical database, where they branch in a tree, so that each branch contains configuration keys.

To access the registry editor should select Start, then Run, on the run line, type regedit, and then click OK. This will access the Regedit window, if you scroll keys: HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG / Display / Settings / Resolution, you will find the resolution of your monitor, such as 800 x 600).

Some of these keys are:

HKEY_USERS: contains information of all users who use the machine. Here is information about installed applications, network connections, etc.. of each user. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE: identifies the information on the physical state of our computer hardware, including the type of memory used, system bus, cards installed, etc..

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT: It is a subkey of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Software and contains the key to ensure that the files be opened effectively for their respective programs.

HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG: includes information about hardware profiles in our system and boot on it, and is linked to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
